Description
First House, located on Quebec Street, is a building likely dating from the 17th century that has been altered. It features a red brick front on the east side and stands two storeys high with attics. The roof is pantiled and has three casement dormers. On the first floor, there are five sash windows. The entrance consists of a six-panel door topped with a radial bar fanlight, all framed by a wood case with an open pediment. The building has a stuccoed return facing Church Street, which includes three sash windows on the first floor. First House is part of a group with No 2 Church Street and also contributes to the group value of Nos 1 to 15 (odd) and Nos 23 to 27 (odd), along with the Former Corn Exchange, Market Place, and Red Lion Hotel on Red Lion Street.
