Description

This is a 15th-century village cross, located on The Green in Caston. Constructed of ashlar stone with brick repairs, the cross features a double plinth and the remains of a shaft in three stages. The base is circular, culminating in an overhanging plate. Above this is a circular stage constructed with brick in a header bond, also topped with a plate. The square shaft has weathered cinquefoil arcading on all sides. The cross is designated as an Ancient Monument (County No. 45).
