Description

The Old House is a mid-17th century house located in Caston on The Green. It features a timber frame with rendered brick infill and a thatched roof, designed in an L shape. The building stands two storeys tall on a flint plinth. A door, added in the 1970s, is situated in a fluted case to the right of the centre. The ground floor has three renewed casement windows, while four similar windows are found in the original openings beneath the eaves. The roof is gabled with an eccentric ridge stack on the left and a south external gable stack. At the rear, there is a cross wing covered with pantiles. The east gable is parapeted and includes tumbling and an internal stack. The ground floor has renewed casements, and there is a flat-topped dormer in the roof added in the late 20th century.
