Description
White Hall is a house from the mid 18th century, constructed of whitewashed brick and featuring a steeply pitched pantile roof. It has two storeys and an attic, with three widely spaced irregular bays that include sash windows with glazing bars. The off-centre doorway has a six-panelled door, with the two upper panels being glazed. This doorway is framed by an eared architrave topped with a pediment on a pulvinated frieze. Flanking the doorway are two small square casements, also with glazing bars. The building has brick dentil eaves and parapeted gables, with chimney stacks located off-centre on the ridge line and at the east gable. There are 20th century door and window openings in the gables, and the west gable has been rebuilt and rendered over in the 20th century. On the south side, there is an off-centre gabled two-storey projection flanked by slated lean-tos, along with a gabled attic dormer that features a two-light casement.
Inside, the house has a contemporary staircase with three turned balusters per tread and newels that have Doric capitals, which may have been re-set. Some rooms on the ground floor have dado panelling, and there are fireplaces with eared surrounds.
