Description
Page's Place is a house dating to the late 16th and early 17th century, with significant restoration work carried out since. The exterior walls are rendered with a pebbledash finish, set on a plinth. The steep roof is covered with plain tiles, including some 20th-century machine-made replacements, and original pantiles. The house comprises a main range oriented north-south, with two gabled cross-wings projecting to the east. Windows are generally 3-light casements with transoms and leaded glazing, with window heads featuring square drip moulds or plain-tiled hoods designed to resemble pediments. A large, central chimney stack rises from the ridge line, featuring four linked octagonal shafts with moulded brick bases. A twin-shaft external stack with similar detailing is present on the gable of the southern cross wing. The gables are topped with moulded terracotta finials. A canted bay window with a pierced parapet is incorporated into the south wall. Two old entrance doors are situated in the west wall; one is accessed through a projecting porch with a parapeted gable, and the other through a pedimented doorway featuring Doric pilasters. Later extensions have been added to the north end of the property. The interior is reportedly characterised by a panelled room, though it has not been inspected.
