Description
Nos. 56 and 58 on High Street are three houses that have been converted into two, with No. 58 now serving as a shop. The buildings date from the late 17th century and were refaced in brick in the late 18th century. The main structure is made of clay lump and has a pantiled roof. The houses are two storeys tall and feature three doors, with the central door being panelled and retaining parts of its original doorcase and hood.
On the ground floor, there are two sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath gauged skewback arches. The shop front for No. 58, which dates from the mid-19th century, has been boarded over. The first floor has four sash windows with glazing bars, and there is a timber eaves cornice. The roof is gabled with a bell base, featuring an external stack on the east side and a rebuilt ridge stack in the centre. The rear of the building includes four 17th-century casement windows located under the eaves.
