Description
Old Smithy House is a former blacksmith's cottage dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and has pantile roofs. The building features two storeys and a symmetrical facade with four windows and a central doorway flanked by rusticated giant pilasters. The original two-light windows have metal casements, while the ground floor windows include transoms and skewback arches. There is a plain platband and a moulded brick cornice above. The front door is panelled and has corner paterae on the door case. A later porch has a zinc tent roof, a ball finial, and fretted eaves detail supported by chamfered posts. The building also has a single gable-end stack. The workshop extension is not of special interest.
