GUIST B 1110 (East, off) Former toll bridge in the grounds of The Toll Bridge

II

Former toll bridge. Dated 1773. Red brick with moulded brick coping to parapets. Single segmental arch. On parapet of downstream side is a large stone tablet inscribed 'WN 1773'. William Norton was the local landowner. The former roadway becomes a flight of steps on the side near the house. One end of the upstream parapet is attached to the house called The Toll Bridge which is not of special interest, but in the grounds of which the bridge now stands since the diversion of the road. This little altered bridge is marked on Faden's map of Norfolk of 1797.
