Description
The Boat House, built around 1910 by G.J. Skipper, is a Grade II listed structure located at Sennowe Park in Guist. It features a timber frame that is partially rendered and partially exposed, resting on a brick base and timber piles, with a pantile roof. Half of the building extends over the lake. The central hall is surrounded on three sides by galleries and a balcony, with boat moorings situated underneath. The design is distinctly rustic. Access to the building is provided by an external wooden stair. The galleries and balcony are enclosed with wooden railings that have wavy braces supporting the main structure.
The hall includes two pairs of French windows facing the balcony and three-light casement windows flanking single pairs of French windows on the gallery sides. Originally, the windows featured leaded glazing. The roof is half-hipped at one end and has a half gable at the balcony end, with four sloping dormers that contain lunette windows, plus one lunette in the half gable. There is a stack located on the land side end of the western pitch, and a weather vane finial is positioned on the gable. The hall consists of four bays, with the fourth bay containing an upper gallery above the balcony. The roof structure includes crown post trusses with arched struts connecting the tie beams to the principals.
