Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses on Castle Street in Thetford. The construction is of coursed clunch with flint and gault brick dressings, topped with a pantiled roof. The houses are two storeys high. Numbers 38 and 40 have been rendered and whitewashed. Numbers 42 and 48 each incorporate a segmental carriage arch, fitted with double timber doors. The houses alternate between one and two bays. All window and door openings are arched. Original six-over-six sash windows remain in numbers 40, 42, and 44. Number 42 has a six-panelled door. Later 20th-century details are also present. The building features a dentil eaves cornice and a gabled roof, with four ridge stacks. The interior was not inspected.
