Description
Abdale Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the 17th century. It features a timber frame structure with a late 19th-century exterior made of painted red brick and roughcast, while the upper floor is half-timbered. The building has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys tall. There is a cross wing on the south side, which has an oversailing upper floor supported by thin joists. This section includes a small segmental-headed window and a door on the right. The cottage has scalloped bargeboards. The main part of the house has two windows, a central weatherboarded porch, and 19th-century glazing bar casements. A ridge chimney stack, rebuilt in the 19th or 20th century, is located on the left center and features three diagonal shafts. Additionally, there is an 18th-century extension to the cross wing, which is made of brick and timber frame, weatherboarded, and has a pan tile roof.
