Description

Jeffery's Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid-16th century, which was floored and heated in the 17th century, and later extended and cased in the 18th and 19th centuries. It has a timber frame, with some parts rendered, and features red brick casing and additions. The roof is tiled. The house has an open hall with one cross wing and is now all two storeys high. There are triple gabled additions from the 18th and 19th centuries at the front of the hall range, with the entrance located in a later left gabled bay. Above the entrance is a 20th-century casement window. To the right, there are two gabled bays that have a plinth, a plat band, and 20th-century casements, with all openings featuring cambered heads. A catslide roof extends over a lean-to from the hall to the right. Set back to the left is the rendered cross wing, which has two 20th-century casements on each floor and a taller ridge. A tall multiform stack with three flues and a rebuilt oversailing cap is located on the ridge of the left hall bay. The left return is made of red brick and has one window. The right gable end features an entrance and one window in brick, along with an exposed tie beam and queen struts that clasp the purlins. At the rear, there is a low 19th-century extension from the hall, which includes one gabled dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
