Description
Baytree Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, with an extension from the 18th century and alterations made in the 20th century. It has a timber frame construction, with roughcast and sham timber framing applied to the exterior. The roof is tiled, and the original structure consists of three bays. The house is two storeys high, with the entrance located between the two right bays. Flanking the entrance are three-light timber casements, and there are three more three-light timber casements on the first floor.
There are two conjoined stacks on the front pitch between the two left bays. To the right, there is a two-bay, one-storey 18th-century addition that features an entrance and a four-light casement with a cambered head, as well as an external end stack with offsets to the right. The gable ends display exposed purlins, and the left end wall has three and two-light casements. There are lean-to additions at the rear, with the entrance located in the left return within a recess in the lean-to rear addition.
Inside, the farmhouse features exposed framing with jowled posts, cambered tie beams, a clasped purlin roof, windbraces, and braces in the walling.
