Description
Follymill, formerly known as Follymill Farmhouse, is a late 16th century house that was extended in the early 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a red plain tile roof. The timber frame is exposed on the outside. The building has two storeys, with the central range dating from the 16th century, a west wing from the 17th century, and a modern jettied east wing. There are three modern leaded casement windows and one original diagonal mullion window. A late 16th century red brick central chimney stack features attached diagonal shafts. To the east end, there is a modern single storey extension with a red plain tile hipped roof. Inside, the house retains many original features, including a reused 15th century entrance door and surround, along with 17th century panelling and an overmantel.
