Description

The village pump located about 30 meters southwest of Sarratt House dates from the mid to late 19th century. It was likely provided by the owner of the nearby White House, which is not listed. The pump is made of cast iron and sits on a stone well head slab, painted green. It features a large circular drum, approximately 2 meters in diameter, supported by four feet. The casing of the drum is decorated with moulded tracery of interlocking circles and half circles on each side. Inside, there are large paired wheels with a protruding axle, although the rest of the machinery has since disappeared.
