Description

This is a pump located about 10 meters northwest of the White House in Chandler's Cross, dating from the mid to late 19th century and made by Braithwaite, London. The pump is constructed from cast iron and is painted green. It features a large circular drum at one end, measuring approximately 2 meters in diameter, which is supported by four feet. The casing of the drum is decorated with moulded tracery of interlocking circles and half-circles on each side. An S-shaped crank handle is present for the internal machinery, although this is not visible. Similar pumps can be found on The Green in Sarratt and at Potten's Farm on Chandlers Lane in Sarratt.
