Description

Appspond Cottage is a cottage built in 1788, as indicated by the date on the brick. The building features a red brick ground floor and a roughcast upper floor. It has a plain tile gable end roof with an internal stack located on the left end. The cottage is two storeys high and has two 20th-century glazing bar casements. To the right, there is an original wide plank door that includes a glazed pane and is framed with heavy oak. The rear of the cottage showcases twin gable ends from the late 18th century to early 19th century. Inside, the ground floor is lined with early to mid-17th century oak panelling, which was likely brought from Old Gorhambury when it was no longer in use in the 1780s.
