Description
Castle Farmhouse, dating from the mid to late 17th century, features a ground floor of 18th century red brick and an upper floor that is roughcast and half-timbered from the 20th century. The building has a steeply pitched plain tile roof and stands two storeys tall with attics. At the ridge, there is a central red brick stack with four joined shafts. The farmhouse has a lobby entrance plan, with the door previously located on the east side. Part of the original staircase remains behind the stack on the first floor. The exterior retains small two-light casements with diamond mullions on both the ground and first floors, along with 20th century casements on either side and at the front elevation.
To the south, there is a later 17th century single-storey outbuilding. Adjacent to this on the west is a single-storey timber frame barn from the 17th to 18th century, featuring weatherboarding and a plain tile roof, consisting of three bays with a brick and flint base. To the northwest, there is an 18th century barn with red brick walls and weatherboarded gables, topped with a plain tile clasped purlin roof.
