Description
The National Westminster Bank Limited, located at Nos 10 & 12 St Peter's Street, is a building from the late 19th century or early 20th century designed in the Neo Gothic style, which was popular with the Westminster Bank during that period. It is a notable example of this architectural style.
The building is constructed of red brick with ashlar dress and a tiled roof. The main block consists of three storeys and an attic, featuring a gable on the right side, while the right-hand wing has two storeys and an attic with a small gable. It includes two and three-light casements set within flush ashlar surrounds, with caned friezes on the first floor beneath dripmoulds. There is a canted oriel bay on the right and a sill level band. The ground floor has a ceiling level band, and the panels above the windows are intricately carved with shields and foliage.
The entrance features two narrow doors on the left with oblong fanlights, and a wider door on the right with a traceried fanlight. This door is set within a chamfered arch that has a dripmould above a row of arched panels adorned with cusps.
