Description

Waterend Barn is a large, timber-framed barn that dates from the early 17th century. Originally from Waterend, it was re-erected on brick foundations in 1938 and is now used as a restaurant. The barn features a very high pitched roof covered with old tiles. The external walls are faced with old brick. Inside, the barn has three aisles and seven bays, with windows and brick fireplaces added. The structure includes arch-braced tie beams with struts supporting the purlins of the roof. The walls are fairly close studded, but the timber used is of thin scantlings.
