Description
The Heath, including the attached barn, is a house that originated in the late 16th century with later additions and alterations. The building features a stuccoed and roughcast rear, while the front range is cased in red brick from the late 18th to early 19th century. It has a timber frame interior and is designed in a T plan over two storeys. The front facade includes four glazing bar casements and two doors, each with porches supported by two slender Tuscan columns and topped with thin hoods. There is a thin floorband and sawtooth brick eaves. A broad ridge stack is located at the left center, beneath which are two large rooms from the 16th century that were heightened in the late 17th century. The rear wing dates back to the early 17th century, and the next addition to the front range occurred at the north end in the early 18th century. Inside, there is a late 17th-century staircase. An adjoining small weatherboarded barn is located at the west end of the west range.
