Description
Greyfriars is a house that dates from the 16th or 17th century, featuring a timber frame with 19th and 20th century additions. The building has a canted plan and is constructed from red brick, plaster, and stucco, with some exposed timber framing. It has both plain tile and machine tile roofs and is one to two storeys high. The low range facing Monks Lane is likely the oldest part, consisting of one storey with attics, three casement windows, and three box dormers. Behind this is a two-storey mid-19th century block, which probably encases an earlier structure. On the side facing Lamb Lane, there is a 19th century gable end with one casement window, and adjacent to the lane is a lower timber frame range with red brick casing and two box casement dormers. There is also a gable-ended addition from around 1950, featuring a catslide roof at the rear.
