Description
The front wall, railings, and north boundary wall to the Priory in Redbourn date from the early 18th century, with later additions from the 18th century and some 17th-century brick at the rear. The structure includes boundary walls to adjacent properties, Redlands and the Bungalow at Monks Close, as well as the north boundary wall to the Priory, known as The Ruins. The wall is constructed of dark red brick, partly in a chequered pattern, and features a low front wall topped with stone coping. The 19th-century cast iron railings have decorative leaf spikes. The northern section of the wall runs approximately 150 meters along the south side of The Ruins and reaches a height of about 3 meters near the road, with regularly spaced flat buttresses and a square pier at the western end. The wall continues along the western side for about 50 meters, ending in another square pier at the southern end.
