Description
No. 38 High Street is a house dating from the early 18th century, featuring a small contemporary wing to the south. The building is constructed of dark red brick with light red brick vertical banding and has gauged red brick lintels. It has a steeply pitched slate roof and stands two storeys high. The facade includes seven flush sash windows, with four on the upper floor that have brick aprons. There is a continuous wooden eaves cornice with square modillions. The entrance is off-centre, featuring a restored arched surround. The south wing has two sash windows on the ground floor and one on the upper floor, with some exposed timber framing visible. Inside the main house, there are timber frame and brick partitions. The rear elevation features a contemporary brick and timber frame gabled projection on the north side, which includes an external end stack.
