Description
The Priory is a large town house, now used as offices, built around 1710 to 1720. The building features a dark red brick facade with vertical banding in red brick. It has gauged red brick segmental window heads and dressings, along with a parapet. The structure consists of three storeys above a cellar and includes seven sash windows. A notable feature is the good gauged brick entablature, which has a pulvinated frieze and a dentilled cornice. The first and second floor windows have aprons, with the central windows showcasing scalloped and patterned brick. There are keystones above the central and flanking middle windows. The entrance includes early to mid-19th century double doors and a Tuscan wood porch. Inside, the front ground floor retains good contemporary interiors. Originally two rooms, the space has been altered to create three, with the northern room incorporating the entrance hall. Both rooms feature fielded panels and slender fluted pilasters, with the northern room having a box cornice and the southern room featuring a coved cornice. The building was altered and extended at the rear around 1970.
