Description
Launay House and Pound Cottage is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the 17th century or earlier. It features a timber frame structure that has been encased in early 19th century stucco and red brick. The building has a plain tile roof that is hipped at the west end and consists of two storeys and attics.
The central red brick section has dentilled brick eaves and a large ridge chimney stack at the east end. It includes two glazing bar casements and a flush panel door set in a moulded frame. The stuccoed block on the west side has a cellar and one first-floor sash window. On the east side, there is a small timber frame bay with a 20th-century red brick front. Adjacent to this is the former barn, known as Pound Cottage, which has an exposed timber frame, two casement windows, and box dormers.
