Description
The barn and stable range located on the south side of the stable yard at Sandridgebury Farm dates from the early 18th century and was extended in the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame construction, weatherboarded exterior, and includes some red brick elements. The roofs are primarily covered with plain tiles, although some sections have slate.
The western end of the structure contains a larger two-bay barn, which has a clasped purlin roof supported by diagonal braces and long tie braces. The stable range consists of two storeys with five narrow bays on the western side that are part of the early 18th-century timber frame. There is a three-bay extension added in the 19th century to the west, along with a lower L-shaped extension from the mid-19th century that returns towards the north. This eight-bay range includes three stable doors and features a half-hipped roof.
On the left side of the 18th-century section, there is a gabled sack hoist. Inside, the 18th-century part retains exposed heavy framing, a preserved hay loft, original partitions, and feed boxes in the western three bays. The rear elevation still shows a sack hoist from the 18th century. The eastern extension has a slate roof and a timber frame rear wing, while a red brick wall towards the road displays dentilled brick eaves. The western return range features four glazing bar casements on the eastern side, with the right three having segmental heads.
