Description
Nos 157 and 159 on Verulam Road are an early 19th-century pair of houses. They are finished in stucco and feature a frieze, cornice, and a blocking course that conceals the roof. Each house has two storeys and a basement, with two windows in the central section and a two-storey, one-window entrance extension that is set back. The sash windows on the first floor have plain reveals and glazing bars, although the right-hand window of No 159 is blocked. The ground floor windows are in a slightly projecting section with a segment-arched design that rises to a band at the first floor. The entrance features a round-headed door with a cornice head and a radial fanlight set in a round, arched recess. There is a basement plinth. Nos 157 to 165 (odd) form a group.
