Description
Middle Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 16th century, designed in an L shape and later altered in the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame with roughcast walls and stands two storeys high. The front has three flush-sash windows and a central fielded panel door with a plain fanlight. The rear wing is lower than the main section. A large red brick chimney stack, dating from around 1700, is located near the junction with the front range, with the upper part of the stack featuring rectangular panels. The main range likely consists of three bays from the 16th century, with the furthest bay being a 19th-century addition made of painted brick. On the southwest side, there are two first-floor sash windows above tiled and canted sash bays, while the northeast side has two flush panel doors. A mid-19th-century dairy has been added to the back of the front range on this side. Inside the main house, there are crown posts at each end of the roof, and the range appears to have incorporated a timber stack or smoke bay.
