Description
Chapel House is a house dating back to the 16th century, and possibly earlier, with a 19th-century rear extension. It was likely originally a hall house. The right-hand section is a cross wing from the early 16th century. The upper floor of this wing has exposed heavy studwork, a jettied construction supported by bull-nosed joists and 19th-century shaped brackets. The left-hand part of the house is timber-framed with plastered walls. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The building is arranged in an L-shape. It is two storeys high and has three 20th-century glazing bar casement windows on the front; the rear range has similar casements. The property was formerly known as Small Gains.
