Description
Fir Trees is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, featuring a gable-ended range with a 19th-century extension on the left, creating an L-shaped plan. The structure has a timber frame on the right and is covered with painted brick. There is a later 17th-century red brick ridge chimney stack with vitrified brick dressings. The house has two storeys, and the gable end displays 19th-century sash windows on both the ground and first floors, along with a door on the left, all adorned with thin flattened-arch hood moulds. Inside, there is evidence of an extensive scheme of wall paintings in a ground floor room, likely from the late 16th century, which are only preserved on the studs and feature a floral pattern in black, white, and red.
