Description
The Hamilton and Wyness Stuart memorial obelisk is located at the roadside between Willian and Great Wymondley. It features a polished grey granite obelisk that sits atop a tapering square pedestal. The pedestal is supported by a two-stage base, with the upper stage made of granite and the lower stage constructed from a different material. The front face of the pedestal has an inscription that reads: "IN MEMORY OF CAPTAIN HAMILTON AND LIEUT WYNESS STUART OF THE ROYAL FLYING CORPS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES WHILST SERVING THEIR COUNTRY AS AVIATORS SEP 6TH 1912." Additionally, the front face of the upper base stage bears the inscription: "ERECTED BY LOCAL SUBSCRIPTION."
