Description
The Parish Church of St Mary is located on Letchworth Lane and dates from the 12th and 13th centuries, with a reroofing and the addition of a south porch in the 15th century. The church features a three-bay nave and chancel, and a timber-framed bell-cote at the west end. It has a tiled roof topped with a pyramidical bell-cote. The exterior is constructed from flint and ironstone random rubble, partly rendered, with freestone dressings, and includes ashlar, brick, and tile buttresses. The nave windows are designed with Y tracery, and there is a gabled porch with a square-headed doorway that has shields in the spandrels. The chancel contains 13th-century windows. Inside, there is a carved effigy of a knight located on a window sill.
