Description
The barn at Lilley Manor, located 50 meters to the northeast of the house, dates from the 17th century. It features a timber frame set on a brick sill, with dark weatherboarding and a steeply pitched red tile roof. The barn is a tall structure with three bays, facing south, and is part of a row of farm buildings that are not of special interest. Architectural details include jowled posts, unjowled mid-bay posts, mid-height rails that are jointed in-line, and tension braces. The roof is a clasped-purlin type, with two purlins on each slope. The gable end trusses have two collars to support the purlins, while the intermediate open trusses feature inclined queen-posts to support the lower purlin and long queen-struts to the high collar. The joints are face-halved bladed scarf joints.
