Description
Wintergreen Cottages is a range of cottages dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. Originally consisting of four tenements, it has since been converted into two dwellings. The cottages are constructed with a timber frame and are plastered, featuring a steeply pitched machine tile roof. They are one storey high with attics, and include four casement windows along with four gabled casement dormers. The front has three doors, with an additional door located at the far gable end. There is a central ridge chimney stack and two similar stacks at the gable ends. At the rear, there is a continuous extension that is weatherboarded and dates from the 19th century. The roof structure includes clasped purlins, and it is possible that the cottages were built in two phases.
