Description

Frogmore Cottage is a house dating to circa 1700. A short southern extension was added later, the front wall was heightened, and the thatched roof was replaced with red tiles and then bricked when the house was divided into two cottages in the 19th century. A northwestern extension was added in the later 20th century when the cottages were combined into a single house. The house has a timber frame, now cased in red brick, a stucco plinth, and a steep roof of old red tiles. It is a 1½-storey, three-cell house with an original lobby entry facing east. The front has three gabled dormers along the eaves and three windows, with a small window in the narrow southern bay. The windows are 2-light casements, and there is a plank door beside the central chimney. Internally, the house retains axial beams that support the floors, and exposed timbers in the partition between the north room and the middle room.
