Description
This is an 18th-century icehouse located in Hoo Park, constructed from red brick in English bond. It features a circular, egg-shaped dome approximately 5 meters in diameter, which is buried in the ground at the edge of a copse, next to a large horse chestnut tree. The earth has been removed from the cap, and the structure is partly broken in. There is a blocked entrance on the east side of the chamber, which is buried externally. The icehouse is about 10 meters deep inside and is associated with the mansion known as The Hoo, which was demolished around 1958.
