Description
Rose Farm is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house. The east wing dates back to the 16th century, while the south extension was added in the 18th century. The north gable chimney was altered in the 17th century, and the north range was added later in the 20th century. The building features exposed timber framing on the west and east sides, with red brick casing and steep old red tile roofs. It is a two-bay framed house oriented north-south, originally having an external north gable chimney, with a south external gable chimney added in the 18th century. A former outhouse to the south is now part of the house, and the entrance is located at the angle with the 20th-century north range. The older part and the south extension have casement windows in each bay, with six panels of infill to the frame on the west side. Inside, the structure reveals an exposed frame with a clasped-purlin roof supported by collars, curved wind-braces, straight tension braces, and heavy jowled posts in the walls. The rafters are marked with assembly numbers, and there is a square butted scarf joint in the wallplate.
