Description

No. 33 High Street is a house dating from the early 18th century, with a range to the east and a nearly contemporary parallel range to the west. The front has been heightened to three storeys and extended to the north in the early 19th century, with a new entrance added to the north and a lean-to constructed in the early 20th century. The building features painted brick and a stucco front, with old red tile roofs and later extensions that are slated.

The house, which has two storeys plus attics and a cellar, is situated on a hillside, elevated above the road to the south. The current structure consists of two tall parallel blocks running north-south, each with internal gable chimneys at either end. There is a lower hipped stair projection at the rear, a two-storey lower extension to the front range with its own north gable chimney, and a large lean-to in the angle to the west, which includes a front door on the north side.

The entrance features a half-glazed door beneath a flat hood supported by large carved consoles. To the right of the door is a tall three-light bay window. The front and south end of the house have casement windows, while the rear range is fitted with three-light casement windows.
