Description

The barn and attached outbuildings at Rye-End Farmhouse date from the 17th century and feature a timber frame construction. The lower walls are cased in red brick from the late 18th or early 19th century, while the upper walls are weatherboarded. The barn has a plain tile roof and consists of five bays, with wide central openings on the north and south sides. It includes high collar braces with clasped purlins and angled struts to the lower purlins.

The outbuildings are located to the south at the east and west ends. On the west side, there is a single-storey range divided into three parts: the nearest section is built of red brick with a plain tile roof; the central section is weatherboarded with a slate roof; and the end section is a stable made of red brick topped with a pyramid-shaped plain tile roof. On the east side, there is a late 18th or early 19th-century stable constructed of chequered red brick with a plain tile roof, featuring four stable doors, each accompanied by a single window.
