Description
The Three Tuns Hotel is a public house and hotel located on the north side of High Street in Ashwell. It was built in the early 19th century, with a date marked on the brick as 1803. The building is constructed of red brick and features gauged segmental window heads and a slate hipped roof. It stands two storeys tall, with the upper floor displaying seven regularly spaced sash windows that have flush moulded frames.
The ground floor has a central door that consists of two glazed panels, two fielded panels, and two flush panels. This door is framed by a doorcase with fluted pilasters and a dentilled pediment. Flanking the door are three triple-hung sash windows. The building also has a plinth, a floor band, and dentilled brick eaves. On the west gable end, there are two large external stacks and two pedimented doorcases with simple cut brackets, each with a part-glazed door. The east end features one stack and one similar door.
