Description

The gateway and wall in front of Wynne's Almhouses date from around 1621. They feature low red brick walls with battered buttresses and moulded tapered copings that slope up to a central, slightly projecting gateway. The gateway is gabled and has an inscribed rectangular panel above the archway, which includes a keystone. The inscription records the foundation of the almshouses. This structure is part of a group that includes several nearby council buildings.
