Description
This is a terrace of four cottages located on Norton Way South, built in 1905 by B Parker and R Unwin. The cottages were originally built for Ebenezer Howard, who resided at No. 359 until 1910. They served as a prototype for later housing within the Garden City. The terrace has a varied plan and building line, and is one and a half storeys in height, with dormers above. The facade is irregular, with slightly projecting end bays. The roof is tiled, featuring hips, gables, and swept eaves, with red brick ridge stacks. The walls are roughcast, and the attic dormers are flat-topped. Gabled dormers are present on the first floor, with weather-boarded gables. The cottages have casement windows with mullions and glazing bars, and splayed bay windows on the ground floor. Recessed entrances are found at each property, with arched openings at Nos. 357 and 359, although the doors have been altered. The cottages are included on the list due to their historical associations with Ebenezer Howard.
