Description

This is an 18th-century building located on the north side of Melbourn Street. The front facade is channelled plaster, topped by a parapet behind which is a red tile roof. It has three storeys and seven sash windows set in moulded, flush frames. A particularly fine central doorway features a six-panelled door, an oblong fanlight with ornamental monogram glazing within a fielded panelled reveal, and a surround composed of Roman Doric half columns, an entablature with a running fret frieze, dentils, and a mutule cornice, culminating in a pediment.

Remarkably, the interior contains early 17th-century decorative features. These include three carved and painted chimney pieces with elaborate overmantels, painted ceilings decorated with arabesques, oak panelling in two rooms, and early 18th-century deal panelling in a single room.
