Description
The Banyers Hotel is an early 19th-century building that has been refronted in a Neo-classical style, although it is based on a much earlier structure. The hotel features a timber-framed construction that has been refaced in gault brick, topped with a Welsh slated roof behind a parapet. It stands two storeys tall and is characterized by tall Greek Ionic pilasters to the right of the centre pediment, with Doric pilasters at the corners. The facade includes seven sash windows with glazing bars set under flat arches. A Doric porch is present, adorned with cast iron balcony railings, an entablature featuring triglyphs, and a mutule cornice. The roadside elevation showcases a pediment with a cast iron balconette on the first floor and a bay window on the ground floor. Additionally, the north projecting wing has a ground floor three-light window with a pediment.
