Description

  1. 5255 MELBOURN STREET (North Side) No 14 (Royston Manor House) (formerly listed as Royston Manor House and Royston Branch County Library) TL 3540 1/72 14.6.64. II* 2. Early C18. Red stretchers, grey headers, old tiled roof. 2 storeys, basements and attics. Stone plinth and chamfered quoins, 1st floor band. 3 box dormers, 5 sash windows in flush frames with moulded sills and cutter flat arches. 6 fielded panelled door and oblong traceried fanlight in architrave surround under hood on carved consoles. Back elevation in plum coloured brick with red brick dressings. Mansard old tiled roof with 2 box dormers behind stone coped parapet. Plinth, 1st floor band, brick modillioned cornice, central pedimented projection. 2:4:2 sash windows with glazing bars in reveals under flat arches. Central pair of 1st floor windows in surround with sill on consoles, reeded Doric pilasters, entablature with breaks forward over pilasters. Ground floor combined central window and half glazed door in surround of Doric half columns under entablature with pediment, triglyphs and guttae. Later lower recessed wing on right of red brick with 2 sash windows.
