Description
This is a London Coal Duty Marker, dating from 1861. It is located immediately north-east of number 24 on the corner with Malt Lane, in Aldenham, Watling Street, Radlett. The marker is constructed from cast iron, painted white, and takes the form of a square pier with chamfered corners. It has a pyramid top and is partly buried. The necking features the City of London crest, and the front face is inscribed with '24 Vict'. It was cast by H.Grissell, of Regents Canal Ironworks. The marker is of group value.
