Description
The lodge to Hilfield Castle, built around 1798-1799 by Jeffry Wyatt for G. Villiers, is a two-storey structure designed in a picturesque Gothic style. It is constructed of rendered brick, and the roof is not visible. The building features irregular fenestration, with a door that has a two-centred head and a drip mould, located in a one-storey porch. There is an octagonal crenellated corner tower with slit windows and string courses. To the right, there is a square-headed casement window with a hood mould, while to the left, a gable with a coped parapet sits above a three-light window. A stack is located at the rear. An early 20th-century two-storey addition to the right is not of special interest.
