Description
Harmshall Cottage is a house dating from the 16th century, with flooring and heating added in the 17th century, along with 19th-century additions and 20th-century alterations. The building features a timber frame that is exposed with red brick nogging and has a tiled roof. It is a three-bay end hall house, with the gable end facing the road. The structure includes arched braces from jowled posts to cambered tie beams and queen struts that support collar clasping purlins. In the 20th century, casements were inserted between the studs. The left side has posts and studs on the first floor, while the right side displays braces and studs. A cross axial ridge stack is located between the two front bays, and there is a half hip to the rear with a later stack. A lean-to addition is present on the left, along with a flat-roofed one-storey addition at the front that contains the entrance. There is also a link to the right leading to one-storey outbuildings. The interior has not been inspected.
