Description

The Titus Monument, located about 10 meters east of the Church of St. James in Bushey, is a chest tomb dedicated to Mrs. Catherine Titus, who died in 1732 and was the daughter of Colonel Silius Titus. The monument is constructed of ashlar stone and features a moulded base with lower gadrooning that forms a curved bowl. The sides of the tomb curve inward, rising to a foliate frieze and an egg and dart cornice. One long side of the tomb has an inscription within a panel that has a moulded frame, while the other long side is blank. The short sides display arms in cartouches, and there is a moulded slab on top.
